Battell Chapel Proposal + Lighthouse Point Park Engagement Photos | New Haven, Connecticut

Some proposals are about surprise and adrenaline — this one was about presence. A slow, intentional unfolding of a moment that felt sacred, grounded, and completely theirs. Capturing this proposal at Yale’s Battell Chapel, followed by an engagement session at Lighthouse Point Park, felt like witnessing a chapter begin in the gentlest, most joyful way.

A Slow, Present, and Full-of-Heart Proposal at Battell Chapel

There’s a special quietness to Yale’s campus — especially around Battell Chapel. The stone, the trees, the filtered light — it all invites you to slow down. And that’s exactly what they did.

They walked together without rushing, taking their time the way you do with someone who feels like home. Outside the chapel, the late afternoon light fell softly across their faces as he took her hands. When he knelt down, it wasn’t hurried, dramatic, or staged. It was warm and sincere — a moment they allowed to breathe.

Their joy came slowly too. They didn’t spring into the next thing or rush away. Instead, they lingered. They laughed. They teared up. They held each other and stayed in that afterglow, letting the weight and beauty of this next chapter settle in. Watching them, it felt like time stretched out just for them.

Engagement Photos at Lighthouse Point Park

After the proposal, we drove to Lighthouse Point Park — one of New Haven’s most iconic shoreline spots — for their full engagement session. The shift in scenery was perfect: from Yale’s quiet, historic textures to the wide-open space of the water, the breeze, and the lighthouse.

We wandered along the shoreline, took photos under the tall grasses, and let the coastal light do its thing. Their energy stayed sweet and grounded the entire time — no rushing, no posing, no pressure. Just real connection and the kind of ease that photographs beautifully.

The combination of Battell Chapel’s stillness with the airy, open feel of Lighthouse Point made the session feel complete — like we captured not just the moment he asked, but the beginning of everything that comes next.
